IJAXD (International Journal of AVGC-XR Design) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to advancing research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration across the creative, technological, and design sciences. The journal provides a global platform for researchers, educators, practitioners, artists, designers, and industry professionals to publish high-quality original research, review articles, technical papers, case studies, and innovative applications.

Focus and scope

IJAXD welcomes contributions spanning animation, artificial intelligence, visual effects (VFX), comic design, communication design, game design, game development, cognitive science, neuroscience, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), extended reality (XR), and the full spectrum of design disciplines. The journal also encourages research in digital media, immersive technologies, human-computer interaction, creative computing, design education, computational creativity, interactive storytelling, user experience (UX), visualization, and other emerging digital technologies.

Peer review process

The International Journal of AVGC-XR Design (IJAXD) follows a double-blind peer review process to ensure the publication of high-quality, original, and ethically sound research. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process.

Review stages

1. Manuscript Submission – Authors submit their manuscripts through the online journal system.

2. Editorial Screening – The Editorial Office checks the manuscript for scope, formatting, plagiarism, and compliance with the journal's policies.

3. Editor Assessment – The Editor evaluates the manuscript's originality, relevance, and overall quality before sending it for peer review.

4. Double-Blind Peer Review – The manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts who assess its originality, methodology, significance, clarity, and contribution to the field.

5. Editorial Decision – Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor makes one of the following decisions: Accept, Minor revision, Major revision or reject.

6. Revision and Resubmission – Authors revise the manuscript and submit a point-by-point response to the reviewers' comments. Revised manuscripts may be sent for further review if necessary.

7. Final Decision and Publication – After successful review and final editorial approval, accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, proofreading, and are published online as open-access articles.

IJAXD is committed to a fair, transparent, timely, and unbiased peer review process, ensuring the highest standards of scholarly publishing.

Double bliend process

The identity of the authors is concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa. The authors should thus submit:

• Title page, with authors' names, affiliations, acknowledgements and any Declaration of Interest statement, and a complete address for the corresponding author including an e-mail address.
• Blinded manuscript, the body of the paper (including the references, figures, etc.) without any identifying information (e.g., the authors' names or affiliations).

Review process guidelines

The International Journal of AVGC-XR Design (IJAXD) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and transparency in the peer review process. The journal follows the ethical principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), including the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers and the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines.

Reviewers are expected to adhere to the following principles:

1. Conduct reviews objectively, fairly, and without personal bias.

2. Provide constructive, evidence-based feedback supported by clear reasoning and, where appropriate, relevant references.

3. Avoid personal criticism or defamatory comments toward authors.

4. Maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and not share or use unpublished material for personal research or professional advantage.

5. Disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest and decline review assignments where such conflicts exist.

6. Obtain prior approval from the Editor before involving or transferring a review assignment to another individual.

7. Assess the manuscript for originality, scientific quality, and ethical compliance.

8. Report any concerns regarding plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data manipulation, unethical research practices, or inadequate ethical approvals and participant consent.

9. Verify whether all relevant competing interests have been properly disclosed by the authors.

By following these guidelines, reviewers contribute to a fair, rigorous, and transparent peer review process that upholds the quality and credibility of scholarly publishing.

All submitted manuscripts are evaluated based on the following criteria:

1. Relevance to the Journal's Scope: The manuscript should align with the aims, scope, and thematic areas of IJAXD.
2. Originality and Novelty: The research should present new ideas, methods, findings, or applications that contribute to the field.
3. Contribution to the Field: The work should demonstrate a meaningful advancement beyond existing knowledge and the current state of the art.
4. Technical and Scientific Quality: The research methodology, analysis, and conclusions should be accurate, rigorous, and scientifically sound.
5. Clarity and Readability: The manuscript should be well-organized, clearly written, and easy to understand, with appropriate use of figures, tables, and references.
6. Completeness: The manuscript should provide sufficient detail, supporting evidence, and references to allow readers to understand, evaluate, and, where applicable, reproduce the research.
